What a great weekend of travelling softball!  The Golden Valley Summer Classic was held last weekend at Lions and Schaper Parks.  The Golden Valley 10U, 12U (Nuggets), and 14U (Orange Crush) all won the tournament at their age levels, and the 16U (Gems) and 19U (Hurricanes) were runners-up!  The weather was beautiful Saturday, and Sunday provided just enough rain to “keep the dust down”… 
 
A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers!  Andy Bukowski was ever present tending to all the tournament needs.  Tim Rose was up early both mornings working field prep.  Bill Clare, Mark Sculatti, Kassie and Jeff Houle, the Mickelson family, Randy Isaac, and countless others were out volunteering time and effort to make this tournament a resounding success!  A special thank you goes out to Bev Master and Armstrong Tennis for providing concessions, and a very special thank you goes out to Russ Rippberger for all his work on keeping the fields playable and safe.  My most sincere apologies if I missed anyone.  All the volunteers are deeply appreciated!  This tournament, and the GVGS league, couldn’t function without all of you.
