Preferred Sands and Keystone Compensation Triumph

The GVGS Midseason Tournament provided two thrilling championship games Sunday afternoon at Lions Park. Both the senior and junior division games came down to the final inning to decide a winner.

In the Junior championship game, VFW Post 7051 held a slim 1-0 lead going into the final inning in a tight, tight ball game. Preferred Sands rallied for three runs in the top of the 6th and held on for three quick outs in the bottom of the inning to take the championship 3-1!

As the final out was recorded lightning struck and the skies poured rain and the girls were running and jumping and hugging and loving it. Both teams had to collect their trophies in the shelter at Lions because of the storms. It was a well played tournament by both teams. Congratulations!

The Senior division championship was also thrilling. The game was delayed and number of times by lightning and heavy rain and the teams seemed to alternate rallying between the delays. The lead changed hands a number of times throughout the game. Keystone Compensation trailed Reflections Printing 10- 8 entering the 7th and final inning. They rallied for four runs to take a 12-10 lead. Reflections wouldn't quit and got their own final rally going but came up one run short  to fall 12-11.

Again it was a welled played game by two good teams that both should be proud of their efforts.
